Some VERY exciting things coming up soon:
1) Miranda July's new film The Future.
The part-cutesy, part-sagacious talking cat makes me a little nervous, but I loved Me and You and Everyone We Know so much that I'm putting my trust in Miranda July. I think this is being released in a week or so (in New York at least) and of course, I'll be away visiting family during that time, but as soon as I return I plan on seeing this.
2) Jeffrey Eugenides's latest novel The Marriage Plot
I nearly shat myself with excitement when I read this article from the BookPage discussing Eugenides's new novel scheduled to come out this October. Eugenides hold a very special literary spot in my heart, alongside other such masters as Donna Tartt, Margaret Mitchell, Raymond Carver, James Salter, Henry James, Jhumpa Lahiri... Etc.
Farrar, Straus and Giroux recently tweeted (I immediately want to sever my right hand in penance for using that word) this picture:
Although, curiously, I've also seen this image floating around the internet:
Which cover will actually be used?? I cannot fucking wait for October.
3) Bjork's Biophilia tour
I have a vivid memory of coming across a website that listed US tour dates for Biophilia, but now I cannot find said website. I can only assume I dreamt it up. So I guess I don't really have too much to be excited for now... And I probably won't be able to afford a ticket anyway... BUT here's a video of the first and only (thus far) performance at the Manchester International Festival:
