The Hamptons

This past weekend, Noel and I impulsively headed to the Hamptons without anything resembling a definite plan. We started off in East Hampton (or maybe it was Southampton...?) and went antiquing, stopped by an art festival, and ate a lot of ice cream.

I have no idea what this structure is or what it represents, except that it offered shade and a place to rest while we were on our 30 minute walk to the beach (despite being assured by the locals that the beach was "not far off").

I promise he was a lot happier than this picture suggests.

A quick aside about these glasses: As you may or may not remember, I was coveting a pair of Tom Ford Nikita sunglasses for months (refer to this post). I actually considered shelling out about $200 for them when, amazingly, I found a nearly identical pair at St. Marks for seven dollars. Take THAT, Tom Ford.

Anyway...

We drove to Montauk which was by far my favorite area. We spent most of our time in the town and at Montauk Point.

Shirt: Club Monaco // Pants: American Apparel // Shoes: Aldo

We tried to get onto Fire Island for some late night drag queen partying, but were unsuccessful; apparently after a certain hour, they simply close off the only bridge that provides access to and from the island, which seems to me like some sort of a safety hazard...
So instead, we drove to nearby Amityville and visited THE Amityville Horror house. The exterior has been modified a bit so it wasn't quite the house I remember from the movie, but I'm easily frightened so I was spooked out anyway.

Though we only spent a weekend there, it was really a lovely time. I am already longing to go back! :(

  1. You have no idea how I enjoyed looking at these photos!! That sounds like a heavenly way to pass the time- in the picturesque cozy setting of long island and antiquing!! and i'm sure you must have eaten well, too, yes? like I love those little luncheonette places around the island where you can get just a good old grilled cheese or something. So fun! And super exciting about the sunnies. Tom Ford? Pfft! xxx
